Summer Travel for Students
Explore Up Close offers summer travel and exploration opportunities for middle and high school aged students. These trips are short excursions in the southeastern U.S. or longer trips elsewhere in North or Central America, or in Europe. The travel style stresses independence, camraderie within a small group, and a low-key, "blend in" approach. Students become genuine explorers in intriguing cultural and natural settings.
Quebec: Exploring the lower St. Lawrence River

Exploring West Virginia: Rock-climbing, Cycling, and Historic Sites
July 27 - August 1
We'll explore the heart and soul of old Quebec City; cycle around the island of Orleans in the St. Lawrence River; hike and kayak in the High-Gorges-of-the-Malbaie National Park; and watch for whales in the Saguenay Fjord.
This is a terrific adventure into the New and Greenbrier River valleys of beautiful West Virginia. We'll enjoy traffic-free cycling on an historic valley route; rock-climbing in the New River Gorge; caving and river-rafting; and historic vestiges of the region, including an exhibition coal mine and the National D-day Memorial.
