Trip Description
We think we’ve crafted the perfect Maine and New Brunswick itinerary. Our 8-day trip will feature multi-night stays on the Blue Hill Peninsula, in lovely Bar Harbor – gateway to Acadia National Park, and in St. Andrews by-the-Sea, New Brunswick. So, “home” will be in lovely atmospheric inns (think: cozy, front porch rockers, gardens, sumptuous made-from-scratch breakfasts) in three of the very most idyllic towns that grace the northeast coast (Castine, ME, is the third). Backroads exploration will be off the charts – small lanes through meadow, forest, and then opening onto arms of the sea, punctuated by the headlands of Acadia and the Schoodic Peninsula; and travel by ferry from Campobello Island through the L’Etete Passage in New Brunswick’s Passamaquoddy Bay. Historical and cultural highlights will include the Wooden Boat School, Acadia’s carriage roads and bridges, FDR’s Campobello Island estate, and the story of early New Brunswick settlements. All combined with the perfect settings for strolls, down time, quaint eateries, and outstanding local food and drink. And great company. It’s all part of the Explore Up Close experience!
