Exploring the Good Life in Chile's Wine Country

February 14 – 24, 2019

Gardens of Eden . . . Between Los Andes and El Pacifico

Join Chumley for a small group trip into Chile's wine regions.  When we're not sipping wine, we'll explore a lovely and varied geography that has been stamped with layers of history and culture, from the native peoples of the region to the Spanish colonizers, to a more modern meld of folk, seeking "the good life" in the democratic Chile of today.  We'll have opportunities to explore lovely beaches and mountains, old town plazas, wine boutiques, and the serendipity that comes with driving beautiful bucolic regions.

Trip highlights:

  • Wine tasting and touring in multiple distinct terroirs: Maipo, Colchagua, and Casablanca
  • Vina del Mar and the stunning Pacific coast
  • The colorful port city of Valparaiso and its unique culture
  • Santiago’s history, markets, and Andean vistas

Trip price: $4099 / person (double occupancy; single supplement, $850); price includes comfortable chauffeured transportation throughout our adventure in Chile, 8 nights lodging and breakfast in lovely inns, 4 lunches, 4 dinners (i.e. breakfast plus one additional full meal each day); all touring and entrance fees, all wine tastings and winery visits per the itinerary.  Price does not include other meals, alcohol, international airfare, or optional trip insurance.

Chumley’s take:  Chile has established one of the Americas’ most stable and commendable democracies since the mid-eighties.  Safe, friendly, and home to some of the world’s favorite wines . . . sounds rather idyllic, in between the Andes and the Pacific.
