Exploring Coastal Maine: From Bar Harbor to Monhegan Island
June 15 - 21, 2019
America’s Vacationland . . . During the Lilac and Rhododendron Bloom.
Summertime in the South means we migrate North – to Maine! We’ll fly directly from Charlotte to Bangor; then fly back directly from Portland, after we work our way down the coast. We’ll enjoy multi-night stays along the way: on Mt. Desert Island (think Acadia National Park); in Camden; and on Monhegan Island – reachable by ferry. Great small group adventure!
- Enjoy sumptuous homemade breakfasts, the view of the nearby water, and local flavors throughout our trip (so, if you like lobster or blueberries . . . )
- Nature-inspired art at the Farnsworth Museum (near Camden), on Monhegan Island, and in village galleries
- Opportunities to get near the water and on the water – including the ferry ride from Port Clyde to Monhegan Island
- Tranquil farm lanes, gardens in bloom, and vestiges of traditional ways of life
Trip price: $2,760 / person (double occupancy; single supplement, $750); price includes comfortable chauffeured transportation in Maine; 6 nights lodging and breakfast in high-standard inns; all activities per the itinerary; 3 lunches and 3 dinners. Price does not include airfare, other meals, alcohol, or optional trip insurance.
Chumley’s take: Maine is one of my all-time favorite places. There’s something about evergreen trees near the coast that whispers my name.
