Exploring Arizona: Sedona, the Grand Canyon, and the Navajo Lands

September 28 – October 5, 2019

The Southwest by Small Group

It’s the perfect time of the year to explore that world of sublime desert-and-rock hues, we call the Southwest!  We’ll fly in and out of Phoenix, Arizona, and make a loop to Sedona, the Grand Canyon, and Navajo lands in the Northeast.  Enjoy scenic, small-road driving routes, opportunities for photography, hiking, horseback riding, and to learn about the amazing geology and human overlay in this vast, sparsely-populated region.  Meet local experts, who will relate stories of Native Americans, early Hispanic and Anglo settlers, and the cultural ferment inspired by the natural elements.

Trip highlights:

  • Two nights in beautiful Sedona:  guided walks and photo ops; horseback riding option
  • The historic El Tovar Lodge, perched on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon (2 nights)
  • Exploration of Navajo National Monument and Monument Valley (one night in Kayenta, AZ),
  • Exploration of cool Scottsdale, including a visit to Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliensin West ranch and studio

Trip price:  $3487 / person (double occupancy; single supplement, $800); price includes comfortable transportation throughout the trip; accommodation for 7 nights in high-standard inns and hotels; 4 lunches and 3 dinners (i.e. breakfast plus one additional full meal each day) all touring / activities per the itinerary; concierge / guide service throughout the trip.  Price does not include airfare to and from Phoenix, others meals, optional activities, alcohol, or optional trip insurance.
