Indian Springs  |  Thomasville’s Winter Colony homes  |  Wakulla Springs  |   Apalachicola  | Americus and the Windsor Hotel

Migrating South . . . Our Seasonal Rite of Passage

This is our annual trek south during the Carolina winter.  We’ll have a second helping of some of 2019’s trip highlights, and add some new experiences.  We’ll spend two nights in Thomasville, Georgia, joining a local guide to learn about the Winter Colony homes in the area.  We’ll also spend more delightful time at Wakulla Springs, and make visits to nearby St. Mark’s and the St. Mark’s National Wildlife Refuge.  Our return drive will take us through Colquitt, Georgia, home to a unique and wonderful murals project – that makes its way to the silos of nearby farms.

• the slow approach to travel – interesting backroads, time to enjoy

• interesting “off the radar” sites:  Indian Springs, Fitzgerald, Colquitt, and all the unexpected ones we discover

• opportunities to see birds and wildlife; lovely drives in less-developed areas

• rich historical encounters throughout the trip

• outstanding historic inns, in the middle of beautiful places:  Thomasville, Apalachicola, and Americus
